From the start, learning and job labels set a standard for learning expectations and job requirements respectively. There is a platform to connect them together as learning dashboards (responsive) and pathways (direct linkages).
There is a new Windows 10 application, which combines the three Android applications: Learning Labels Create, Learning Labels Dashboard, and Learning Labels Paged. This works because the target is mainly desktop and tablet users (works on smartphones too).
From the Skills Label website (www.skillslabel.com), there is a link to download the application from the Windows Store or a direct download. Once downloaded, the installation is quick. With the Learning Labels Paged and Learning Labels Dashboard, there is a sample dataset to see how the applications work.
Once downloaded, using the application is intuitive (there are limited instructions in the description and that is all for now). Here are brief instructions:
Learning Labels Paged (default application): Click Left / Right to move through the sections and Up /Down to move through the elements. There is a button to mark a pathway and see its aggregates. At each corner, there are buttons for navigating between apps, selecting dashboards, choosing sections, and adding elements to pathways.
Learning Labels Dashboard: Drag and drop tiles into sort orders and to assign one element to another (dragging a lower element on a higher elements makes an assignment). (A tip) for touch devices, hold the touch for a second and then drag. A single click on a higher-level element marks a learning pathway. Double clicking on an element opens the default web page of the element (more substantive). At each corner, there are buttons for navigating between apps, selecting, creating, updating, and deleting dashboards, choosing sections, and adding elements to pathways.
Learning Labels Create: A step by step process to create each of the elements. The path to create the elements is simplified and designed for a touch screen (minimal typing). Requires a valid user account.
The target audience of users of the system include K-12, higher education, career counselors, curriculum designers, publishers of learning resources, workforce development planners, and other type of learning practitioner. If this fits you, your team or organization, give this application a try.
The application is free to use and does not require a login to use. Full usage of the application requires a valid user account. Register online at: www.skillslabel.com/account/register . Learn more or give feedback at info@skillslabel.com .
