I firmly believe in a plurality of skills; this is one central premise of my patent. In learning expectations, job responsibilities, or corporate tasks multiple skills are applied instantaneously; according to our published Learning, Job, and Corporate Task Labels, an average of 5, 20, and 15–20 skills, respectively. So, releasing our new Skills Label Insight report Quantification of a Single Skill is a different perspective.
The report takes a single skill with at least 50 job references, then calculates Skill metrics (Prior and Applied Skill Points TM), related skills (plurality), and other summative information.
The public version features a randomly selected skill, while subscribers select their own.
A few thoughts:
- Deeply mastering a few technical skills might help AI-proof your career. (Like Data Monitoring, Data Analysis, Data Visualization.)
- Location matters. Skills are concentrated in areas. (Tech in NY, WA, CA, TX.)
- Some technical skills are interchangeable across sectors / industries. (Every sector requires Technology Leadership.)
- Corporations look for non-obvious technical skills. (Coca-Cola Biochemistry)
Deeply mastering a few technical skills might be an effective, AI-proof career strategy—particularily in the skills in-demand where you live, or in the sectors and industries you want to join.
