Building from the previous article Empowering the Workforce with Job Futures, where I established skills are the medium for workforce development according to management consulting firms, think tanks, and large companies, in this one, I would like to propose :
Why I think Job Futures, in skills, are not only a solution for a current persistent problem of underemployment in post secondary, but a forward thinking one to a big looming one of AI and creating efficiencies
In a social media post, I got asked the following question:
“Ryan M. Frischmann, how can we ensure skills development keeps pace with ai advancements while maintaining meaningful employment opportunities?”
I gave two responses, one promotional and another more objective.
The promotional one:
The Job Futures proposal is for employers who are using the AI and developing the AI forecast their requirements. The patented Job Label technology is fluid and responsive to skill requirements, so advantageously not static to traditional job definitions. Furthermore, the actual skills themselves are constantly evolving: see the job label templates.
Regarding the meaningful work, the supporting Skills Based Approach methodology and Skills Culture are humanistic and support the growth of an individual personally and professionally. We attempt to connect the employees, educators and students/workers with the Job Futures.
The more objective response:
I try to build young adults both personally and professionally, the primary goal is gainful employment but significantly also foster contentment and self-discovery - meaningful! I suggest identifying strengths and interests - in skills, enabling young adults to find work based on their passions, competencies, chance of employment, and personality. This is clearly stated in the planning stage of my book Skills Based Approach: A Methodology for Lifelong Learning.
With employment, we (my company) strive to hold employers accountable and boost their job sourcing efficiency, resulting in substantial cost savings.
We cannot control AI policies or how employers utilize AI, but our Job Futures product is responsive and adaptable to the evolving landscape of job and skill requirements.
I decided to include a graphic from the Skills Based Approach book to reiterate how the human aspect of mentorship is one way to "maintain meaningful employment".
