Evaluate core corporate functions from what I call the 5Ps for Corporate Governance and Planning Jobs. From our data (Skills Label) of 1120 jobs (1 in 7 F500 companies), almost all jobs reference at least one and often multiple skills related to:
Program (Management), Policy (Compliance), Project (Management), Product (Management) and Process (Processes).
The 15th Skills Label Insight Report (live and PDF)quantifies the volume of corporate jobs referencing each field, identifying the top five referenced job titles and skills. This interactive framework shows the intersections where job requirements span multiple fields.
(Each percentage reflects the proportion of jobs in our dataset requiring at least one skill in the respective area.)
Industry analysts say we run a “Project Economy”. Project management is significant in our Job Labels data – 68 percent. Policy and process management are also significant, representing 63 percent and 45 percent.
I believe both Process Management and Policy are going to be critical in the “AI Economy”:
Processes underpin much of the automation, data modeling, and machine learning, essentially blurring between manufacturing, hardware and software.
Policy is required for compliance in all areas of work, including AI privacy, security and fair use. If AI agents begin to complete tasks at work, the underlying skills related to policies and compliance are essential and become the most sustainable skills of the white-collar worker.
Product Management is the basic unit, what all the other fields are looking to achieve- buying and selling products and services. This is the most represented field with 76 percent.
Program Management is the highest order field and least represented with only 8 percent of skills related in the field. A program might include a combination of projects and policies. Corporations are increasingly looking for programs related to corporate governance.
Job Labels offer a precise framework for defining the skills inherent to each field. These labels serve as an authoritative "source of truth" derived directly from corporate job descriptions and listings.
