Each year, I summarize our progress, interpretations, and vision through a video. This is the 2026 Skills Label | Job Futures | Skills-Based Approach Product Release.
Here is a link to the release…
Some of the progress…
- Achieved significant advancements in our database and live data, including building an AI Foundation database and releasing Skills Label Insights Reports.
- Modernized our user interfaces, upgraded frameworks, and added universal linking and action buttons.
- Finalized a skill classification system and formalized skill compositions.
Some of the interpretations…
- There is an unequivocal job market crisis.
- Entry-level job candidates face an unemployment rate that is double the national average.
- White-collar professionals are being replaced in what is referred to as the “Great Flattening” (companies such as Amazon and Microsoft have significantly decreased middle management).
- Uncertainty surrounding AI-driven job replacement continues to grow within the workforce.
Our suggestion: Predict jobs and skills (Job Futures), use our five labels (Skills Label) to integrate learning with jobs and corporate projects, and connect three perspectives: job candidates, post-secondary institutions, and employers.
Our vision…
- Establish an industry standard for defining and quantifying skills and predicting jobs.
- Enable integration of learning with jobs and corporate projects.
- Five Labels. One Language. Three Perspectives.
